Instructions for Installing MAPP Online Pro Legacy XML Reader

Step One:

In order to use this software, you will need Java 1.6 for Windows & Linux or Java RE 5.0 for Mac OS X. Below are instructions for windows and macintosh users. Please read them carefully.

Windows:
If you already have Java 1.6 on your computer and you click on the link in step two MAPP Online Pro Legacy XML Reader will download and launch automatically. To get the latest version of Java, visit the URL: http://www.java.com and click the "Java Software Download" link in the upper right hand corner of the home page. We strongly recommend that PC users visit the Manual Download Page and use the offline installation link. This is the safest route to an easy installation. The "manual download page" is located at this URL: http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Macintosh:
MAPP Online Pro Legacy XML Reader works with Apple OS X 10.4 or later. Java has recently released Java 2 SE 5.0 to succeed Java SE 1.4.2 under Mac OS 10.4. To use this version, you'll need to update your Java software by downloading the update from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/javaformacosx104release5.html
After downloading and installing the update make sure you close all instances of Java Web Start and MAPP Online Pro Legacy XML Reader before proceeding with the following instructions:
Search for the most recent version of "Java Preferences" (there should not be a version number following the name). Under the "General" tab go to the "Java Applet Runtime Settings" Use Version: J2SE 5.0. Under the "Java Application Runtime Settings" drag J2SE 5.0 to be above J2SE 1.4.2.

Step Two:

Click on the following link:

Launch MAPP Online Pro Legacy XML Reader Software

This will initiate a download of 84kb of Java software -the MAPP Pro Legacy XML Reader client software.
You will then be warned "Failed to verify the authenticity of this certificate ... It is highly recommended you not run this code" - This is a normal warning under Java - please click "start". There will be another dialog box that will inform you about Java code from Sun, please click "Install"
MAPP Online Pro Legacy XML Reader will now start.
In the window that opens, from the top menu, select File->Open. With the Open dialog window, select your Legacy XML file, and click the Open button.

Step Three:

Depending on what version of Java you have, you will be asked either the first time you launch MAPP Online Pro Legacy XML Readeror the second time you launch MAPP Online Pro Legacy XML Reader if you want to create a link and Icon on your desktop. You probably want to answer "yes" to this question. Creating a desktop application allows you to open the application directly rather than opening Java Cache Viewer first. You can always come back to this page to launch MAPP Online Pro Legacy XML Reader. To install shortcuts manually:
Select the application in the Java Cache Viewer list.
Choose Applications > Create Desktop Application.
For Mac Users: Enter a name for the application and choose where is should be saved.

To Get Updates:

If you connect to the Internet and then launch MAPP Online Pro Legacy XML Reader, Java WebStart will automatically check for, and download, any updates.

Quick Start:

To view and generate a report of MAPP Pro XML and ZIP files created in 2.5.54 or earlier, choose open from the File menu and select the file. The file will open in a preview mode as well as create an HTML Report on your desktop. This will allow you to obtain the settings that would otherwise be excluded when opening from MAPP Online Pro version 2.7 or later.
